“How does a kid raised in Philadelphia, in a religion that believed black people were gods get to Portland and begin worshipping the Jewish man Jesus? The grace of God. Never in my childhood did I ever think that I would become a follower of Jesus. Growing up I was taught that Christianity was the “white man’s religion” and that it was a tool for the enslavement of black people. While it is true that Christianity was wrongly used as a weapon of control by slave-owners, I grew to understand that what took place during that time was not true, biblical Christianity. I learned that Jesus was a brown-skinned Middle Eastern man who has brought freedom from the slavery of sin to people from all nations, tongues and tribes. I’ve had the privilege of being involved in ministry for 8 years now, working to help fellow believers live into the unity that Jesus established for His people at the cross. I love to work within communities of people that look like me to present the real, biblical Jesus and His good news. Not the counterfeit Jesuses that they have heard about. Grace and peace fam!”
