Emily Gigoux

“Growing up, I was a “PK” (Pastor’s Kid). My parents are amazing followers of the Lord, and my home environment growing up was great. I accepted Christ into my heart and was baptized when I was eight. I went to church every Sunday (both the adult service and the children’s service/youth group). I was involved in all the Bible studies. Went on all the church retreats. Memorized Bible verses. Prayed before my meals. Went to a private Christian college… yet still struggled in really discovering what MY faith looked like. What does Emily’s relationship with Christ look like?

I got so discouraged when I didn’t understand prayer. When the Bible didn’t make sense to me. When every single Bible study or devotional didn’t seem to “work” for me. Then I realized— I grew up watching other people & their faith and hearing their opinions on the “correct” way to be a Christian. Can I tell you something? Everyone’s personal relationship with the Lord looks different, and that is okay.

Through much patience & persistence over the years, I have finally come to peace with what MY relationship with God looks like. I know in my heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins, and that He rose from the dead. I know that the Holy Spirit lives in me. I know that God loves me as I awkwardly move through my faith journey. Each day I do my best to be intentional with my faith. My goal for my daily devotionals is to discover something new about my amazing God. I know that my faith is growing and it brings me so much hope & security.

My encouragement: continue to explore your relationship with Christ every day. Lean into the Lord and He will show you the way!”
